SUNSCREEN ☀️☀️
Taking a moment while we have you to emphasize that if you wear sunscreen to only one place in your life, let it be here. There is a literal hole in the Ozone layer that makes the Australian sun the harshest sun you will experience. It’s not IF you burn, it’s WHEN you burn. Sunscreen (and Aloe) will help mitigate.
Please stop at an Australian convenience shop and buy one of their sunscreens - they are well regulated and high standard for this very reason. My fair-skinned friends especially, please heed our warnings. Chris can tell you all about it..
Take a tour of Sydney’s main tourist attractions…
If you’re feeling like getting all of the Sydney essentials done in one day through a professional tour guide, there are several tours available. Here is one for $250 AUD (~156USD) per adult.
Then, pick and choose your individual adventures to add-on!
Featherdale + Other Wildlife Sanctuaries
Every tourists’ dream! Although mainly a children’s activity for locals of NSW, Wildlife Parks allow you to view animals indigenous to Australia. We recommend Featherdale as you are allowed to feed and interact with a lot of the animals (kangaroo, quokka, photos with koalas, etc;). You might get lucky and get a kiss like Chris did!
Feeling adventurous?
We can’t recommend the Sydney BridgeClimb enough. You learn a lot about the infrastructure of the historic Harbour Bridge while experiencing the breathtaking, panoramic views of Sydney. We recommend doing the sunset tour to ascend into the cotton candy skies and later descend into the city night lights.
Take a Sydney Harbour Cruise
The Sydney Harbour is beautiful and worth taking a cruise for its panoramic views. We suggest taking a sunset dinner cruise , or sunset cabaret and dinner cruise, which brings into the night to take in the city and harbour twinkling lights. Whether you want to make it a booze cruise, lunch cruise, or just a tour cruise, make sure you cross this off your list!
Visit The Blue Mountains
The Blue Mountains are best known for its soaring sandstone ridges blanketed in native bushland. Nestled within the wilderness lie charming mountain towns, ancient Aboriginal rock art and the iconic tourist attraction of Scenic World. Explore the walking tracks that loop around the verdant valleys and craggy cliffs. See the wonders of the Three Sisters vantage point. Find after-dark excitement spotting glow worms in an underground cave, (like the Jenolan Caves), or indulge in a touch of luxury at a wilderness retreat.
Afterwards, walk through the quaint town and get some great chocolate at the Blue Mountains Chocolate Factory!
Bondi Beach.
Arguably the most notable of beaches amongst tourists coming in to Sydney. We know you “gotta” check it out, but if the crowd in this photo puts you off a bit (like it does locals) then we suggest taking the ferry or training it to some of Sydney’s other beautiful beaches.
Manly and Maroubra are both beautiful, a bit less packed, and accessible by ferry from Circular Quay. Buses/trains can get you to Curl Curl and Avalon in North Sydney.
If you’re still keen on Bondi and end up wanting something more secluded, take the 30-ish minute coastal walk to Bronte Beach to check out the beautiful rock pools.
Take a Ferry from Circular Quay Wharf
Circular Quay hosts a few sites to see, most notably the Opera House. However, something as simple as taking a Ferry from the Wharf is scenic, beautiful and cost effective. Keen to see Manly Beach? Take the ferry! Taronga Zoo, Luna Park, just wanting to get out on the water? Take a ferry! Ferry is public transport, and you can tap on/off or buy a ticket. Look ahead at ferry times: https://transportnsw.info/routes/ferry and cruise around the Harbour on a beautiful day!

You can’t visit Australia without venturing into the vast bar and pub scene. Beer drinkers will be especially happy while visiting Sydney.
A pub lunch (drinking a pint at a pub over lunch) is pretty popular and we suggest doing so for the culture. Click below to find consolidated recs for bars and pubs around Sydney.
We have to personally recommend the Opera House Bar right beside the Opera House for a beautiful vibe, nice drinks and casual food. Going at night time is suggested.
